Pepper and I spent a few days in Kentucky visiting my dad's side of the family. While meeting and
experiencing new family members can be a lot to absorb, I'm proud that he had a chance to spend time conversing and listening to people I've known practically my whole life. Living far away from BOTH sides of the family can feel isolating, yet with every visit, I'm reminded how rewarding it can be to reconnect.

Switching gears:
Wedding month is officially here! A touch of panic motivated me to organize, pack, and reevaluate everything in sight. It won't be easy to hop from wedding festivities to our South Korea travels, so I'm doing my best to prepare, both mentally and physically. What will it be like to be AWAY from the U.S for an entire year? Only experience will tell.
I had a funny little moment in a boutique shop today. I picked up a pair of earrings and sensibly checked the back for a price. The words "made in Korea" greeted my gaze, and I heard a chuckle escape my lips, but felt a rush of confusion. Any desire I had for the earrings was rendered lukewarm. I'll be IN KOREA, so why would I buy something that was MADE there, yet shipped here? It seemed like a weird thing to do, so I settled for a pair of shorts. Now I'm interested to see what I can buy "over there." Will I get excited if I see "made in the U.S.A? Most likely.
